2nd Annual Challenge of Color blog hop

About a month ago, I signed up for the 2nd Annual Color Blog Hop - Accessories Challenge.  It's the first time I have taken an open challenge, showcasing my work to 52 or more professional jewelry makers.  It's a little nerve racking and exciting for me because I'm self taught.  Besides admitting in my mind I could be an artist more then a crafter, this challenge makes me realize my style of work and perhaps even opened-up my artistic perspective in jewelry making.

This challenge consists of picking one color family and a given color palette to make accessories for the blog.  Here's the link to the challenge info: http://treasures-found.blogspot.com/p/take-challenge.html

For myself, I chose "pink".  I'm not really a pink person, my favorite color is blue or teal, and most my bead collection I own are in hue of blues :D.  So I picked Pink to challenge myself.  I received an email with the palette challenge with my chosen color pink, and the theme to inspire the piece.  I was smiling when I saw my theme :D

Jessica Colaluca of Design Seeds has graciously allowed the 54 challengers to use her color palettes from her website: www.designseeds.com *super cool site for color inspiration - check it out  :)

Perhaps Erin from Tesori Trovati Jewelry (organizer of this challenge) found out my hometown, and gave me this theme - Singapore Brights.  In any case, as a proud native of Singapore this made me smile and I really want to do this challenge proud.

Alright without further ado, here's what I made :D
Sing Singapore! Roar Lion City!

I honestly had the hardest time thinking how I could represent Singapore in Pink! (T_T").  I stressed out a little until I found these awesome brass metal lion heads.... they look so cool and too fierce not to use.  It became clear that I needed to celebrate Singapore's iconic symbol, the Merlion.  The Merlion is a lion head attached to the tail of a fish and serves as the mascot for Singapore.  Here's a picture of the majestic creature of Singapore!

Under the skyline, I thought I must use blue to highlight the city, and all the greenery my beautiful country has.  Not forgetting my challenge color Pink, I decided to use pink sequins to add the shimmer and sparkle the city is famous for!  With the theme palette Singapore brights, I've gathered the following beads for my piece -

" Ta-daaa "
I hope you like my piece, I will be listing this piece on my Etsy for sale, hopefully someone like this piece as much as I have in my heart for Singapore :)  I also have free give away worth $75 for this holiday season on my facebook - facebook.com/triptophonic

Also, do check out the other challengers and see what their challenge color palette was, and what artistic accessories they may have created in this Color Blog Hop Event! ~ so much fun...

This Made me Smile ~~

Last week, I received a really nice email from a lady noting how she liked this bracelet her colleague got from our studio.  I am so happy to be able to create jewelry that both my customers and their friends find beauty in. Here's the nice email she wrote:

Hi!
My coworker came to the office the other day wearing the most beautiful bracelet from your Wisconsin shop. Is there any way to contact the designer or buy one through you? It was a gorgeous beaded piece with a butterfly on it. Please let me know. It was truly stunning.
Cheers,
Erin

So after a few emails, here's the custom piece I made for her :)

And she wrote me another note that made my day, giving me the encouragement to making more special jewelry -

erin2451

"Thank you Angela. This is more beautiful than I imagined. My sister will love it too! Thank you for helping me make her birthday so special. Erin"

If anyone out there needs a special piece or either made with your family heirloom as a holiday piece, don't hesitate to let me know how I can help :) I am very willing to make you and your special someone happy.

Mustache Fever

Mark really likes the show Magnum PI, and has been watching the re-runs... we got the chance to visit beautiful Hawaii and of course to see the Magnum PI mansion last year.  There, I surprised Mark with a handmade mustache identical to what Magnum has for giggles.  Ever since then I started making mustache on sticks and now into necklaces.

I want to thank Hesley Harps for blogging about the hot pink mustache she got from the studio this summer.  I thought I would return the favor and lead some fans to her page.  (She's very pretty and cool...also an actress!!) Check it out --->  http://hellogiggles.com/moustaches-a-love-story

Here's some pictures of the mustache pieces, and I hope they make you smile.  Custom orders available in variety of colors to pick from ---> see all my wool colors below.

Back and About

Summer flew by for us as usual this summer, and i really have no idea what I've done this year.  But they said when you are happy - time flies; and when you can't remember what happened at a party - it had to be fun -->  (>_<) so yay.

I have been working hard on creating jewelry using all sorts of medium and materials.  My latest goal is to find success on my Etsy shop.  I hope in time to come, I am able to feature many great work online and bring more fabulous artists to our customers.  I appreciate your constant support to our studio, and will continue to bring our passion for art and music to the table.   Hopefully through our little effort, everyone gets to see many other hardworking artists and their work.

Since my active participation on Etsy, I have found many wondrous work.  Here's some of them - incase you needed help looking for a special Christmas present (:
